Seldom does a
lyricist elicit (Majr)oohs and aahs, but one can’t deny the fact that
Sultanpuri was a key member of the team that collaborated on the soundtrack of Tumsa Nahin Dekha.
He penned Jawaaniyaan Yeh Mast Mast Bin Piye, which
was could be translated to, “Even without having drunk, these youthful maidens
are intoxicating. They walk around, lighting lamps along the way. Neither do I know
who I’ve been made for, nor do I know which of them is for me.”
The track was rendered
by Mohammed Rafi and composed by O P Nayyar.
