Rafi’s rendition definitely elicited (Bh)ayes

The soundtrack of Basant Bahar (1956) was another certificate of Shankar Jaikishan’s versatility.

It comprised a veritable bounty of songs based on ragas. But mercifully, it wasn’t a failed attempt by the duo to B(aha)reak into the Naushad Bas(an)tion.

But as filmi as that might sound, there’s probably nobody in this Duniya who can claim to be an ardent Hindi film music aficionado and say, “Na Bhaye” in reference to the track which was penned by Shailendra.

It was rendered by Mohammed Rafi. And it needn’t be said that he had a voice Todi(e) for.
