So (Ra)firmly
entrenched were Mohammed Rafi and Geeta in the Guru Dutt camp that one couldn’t
imagine anyone else but them rendering Aankhon
Hi Aankhon Mein, the Du(e)t(t) from C.I.D.
(1956).
It was the only
song in the film that was penned by the noted poet Jan Nisar (who, inCIDentally, passed away on August 19,
1976). On the eve of his 41st death anniversary, this is A(kh)t(a)ribute
to him by a Hindi film music aficionado.
The soundtrack earned
O P Nayyar a nomination in the Best Music Director category at the Filmfare
Awards in 1957.
