Even if my
collection of music is of a single genre (i e Hindi film music), it is eclectic
enough to include a prayer [Aye Malik
Tere Bande Hum from Do Aankhen Barah
Haath (1957)]. But I didn’t know that I’d start my day with a post on it.
The female
version of the song continues to be popular. And the credit for that definitely
goes to Lata Mangeshkar, whose rendition took devotion to another level.
But, of course,
it must be given to the two Vs – lyricist Bharat Vyas and composer Vasant Desai
– too.
