This Du(e)t(t) described Bombay peR(a)f(i)ectly

When C.I.D. released, Mumbai was called Bombay in English and Bambai in Hindi. The city may have been rechristened, but one thing certainly doesn’t seem to have ended – the debate regarding the ease or difficulty of living in it.

There couldn’t have been a more precise description of that than the lines of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan, a track from the film. They were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

Barring the (now non-existent) mills and trams that Mohammed Rafi sang about, the O P Nayyar composition still holds true. Geeta Dutt was his co-singer.
