If the letters
in the name of Shamshad, who sang Boojh
Mera Kya Naam Re from C.I.D.,
were rearranged and split into two words, they would spell the words smash and
had. And indeed, the song had Be(gu)(co)me a smash hit (which is what it
continues to be).
The track –
whose first two lines translate to, “Guess my name. My village is on the banks
of a river. In my courtyard sways a peepal
tree, providing cool shade” – was penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
And it was none
other than O P Nayyar who composed it.
