Since Naya Daur released a decade after India
became independent, Saathi Haath Badhaana
(Companion, lend me a hand) was a clarion call to people to contribute to
building the nation.
The song was
five minutes and 27 seconds long. Mohammed Rafi and Asha were the (Bhos)lead
singers, and they were accompanied by a chorus.
It was penned by
Sahir, who was renowned for his socialistic (Ludhian)views.
Although the coloured
version of the film released in 2007, the O P Nayyar composition is as relevant
today as it was when the original, a black-and-white film, released.
