One can’t De(n)y its popularity

Such was the command of the Mannamed Dey over classical music that he lent his (Dar)baritone to a song from Seema, which was based on the said raga. The track was Tu Pyaar Ka Saagar Hai.

He was accompanied by a chorus.

At five minutes and 22 seconds, the Shankar Jaikishan composition was the longest of the three songs penned by Shailendra in the film.

Being the last of the Golden Era’s male playback legends to pass away, Dey had the opportunity to dive the deepest into the saagar of (Hindi film music buffs’) pyaar.
