Rafi’s talent had no Seema

Although they were associated with, and known mainly for their scores in, R K Films, composers Shankar Jaikishan were sought after by other producers, and they certainly didn’t let them down.

Seema, which released in 1955 (which wasn’t a prolific year by their standards), was one of their biggest hits outside the aforementioned banner.

It soundtrack included Kahan Ja Raha Hai, the Mohammed Rafi solo, which was four minutes and 26 seconds long.

The song was penned by Shailendra, who took what might be called a Se(e)mantic liberty (given that the one leaving was Nutan).
