Dukh Bhare Din Beete Re Bhaiya (The days of sorrow have passed) was a song
from Mother India (1957), the country’s
first submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
The song, which
is three minutes and nine seconds long, could also be called Happy Deys are Here Again, because Alively
chorus accompanied the four singers who (Bhos)lent their voices to it – Manna, Asha,
Shamshad Begum and Mohammed Rafi.
Shakeel Badayuni
penned it. Since it was based on Raga Megh Malhar, there was no prize for
guessing that it was composed by Naushad.
