Although there is
no iota of doubt that it is catchy, it’s safe to presume that the phrase Aplam Chaplam comprises a couple of
rhyming words that have no meaning – at least not in Hindi.
Having said
that, the track from Azaad (1955) was
aplam project for Usha Mangeshkar, the fourth of the five Mangeshkar siblings
and the youngest of the four sisters.
Her co-singer
was none other than her oldest sister Lata, and coincidentally, it was
picturised on a pair of dancing sisters who were Bharatanatyam exponents.
