To say that
India’s second submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was
cineMa(dhu)matically excellent would
be an understatement. It wasn’t nominated.
But that certainly
did not Mat(hu)(te)r, because the songs of the film, including Dil Tadap Tadap Ke Keh Raha Hai (which
was three minutes and 27 seconds long), are timeless cLa(ta)ssics.
The track, which
can be translated to, “My heart is yearning for you and beckoning you”, was rendered
by Mukesh and Ms Mangeshkar anD(i)lip-synched by Mr Kumar and Vyjayanthimala.
It was penned by
Shailendra and composed by Salil Choudhury.
