S D was
to the (Bur)manor born, and Sahir Ludhianvi was the champion of the underdog.
As awesome as the combination was, it wasn’t destined to last. But their
collaborations resulted in classics that Hindi film music buffs of a certain
vintage rave about to date.
Thandi Hawaayen Lehrake Aayen from Naujawan
(1951) – which was penned by the Lat(a)ter, composed by the former and rendered
by Mangeshkar – would certainly make it to the list.
The breezy
number gave absolutely no indication of the storm that was to ravage Bollywood
towards the end of the 1950s.
